Gary’s fascination with weather began as a child in Southern California. He earned a meteorology degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1985 and became a morning meteorologist at Oklahoma City’s KWTV in 1986.
He moved to Kansas City in 1992 and became KSHB 41’s chief meteorologist in 1999. His career has included studying recurring weather patterns, sharing forecasts with the community, and bringing his beloved weather dogs into the studio.
Gary is also the author of the children’s book It’s a Sunny Life. Away from forecasting, he enjoys supporting Kansas City’s sports teams.

Kansas City roots. A lifelong love of weather.
Born and raised in Kansas City, Jeff attended the Barstow School before earning a meteorology degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
He returned home to begin his broadcasting career and met Gary Lezak in 1992. After working as a weather producer, Jeff joined Gary at KSHB 41 in 2000, where his work included producing weather coverage and presenting weekend morning forecasts.
That long-running partnership continues here. Jeff will host Lezak Weather’s evening show every day, helping viewers catch up on the forecast and look ahead to tomorrow.
