Basic contest rules
- Open to all U.S. residents 18 and older. No purchase necessary.
- One entry per person. Entries are timestamped when received by the server and cannot be changed after submission.
- Entries close November 30, 2026 at 11:59 PM Central, or when the qualifying snowfall occurs, whichever comes first.
- Predict the exact date and time Jeff Penner measures the first 1 inch of snow from a single snow event at our designated LezakWeather measurement site in Overland Park, Kansas.
- Jeff will verify the snowfall by measuring at three outdoor locations at the designated site. His private address will not be published.
- The person predicting closest to the official time wins. In a tie, the earliest submitted entry wins. If a tie remains, a random drawing determines the winner.
- The grand prize is $500 cash, a one-year subscription to Global Predictor, and a one-year subscription to the Weather 20/20 Intelligence Report.
- No entries submitted at or after the official first-inch measurement time are eligible, even if that time is confirmed later. Entries may be closed manually immediately. All submission timestamps are recorded by the server.
- You may choose “No snow” instead of a date and time. This predicts no qualifying one-inch snowfall at our designated site through March 1, 2027. If none occurs by then, the earliest submitted eligible “No snow” entry wins; if a tie remains, a random drawing determines the winner.
